➝ Arthur was a child raised by a single mom, the oldest of the family.
➝ His mom for some reason was never really able to do much for the family so Arthur was basically shoved into a role like that, which is part of why he's fixated on the little things/appearances/etc. Or part of the reason.
➝ He probably learned how to fight at an early age, maybe even just scraps on the street or something
➝ Even though he's super smart he basically just kind of wasted it away on trying to take care of his family sort of deal.
➝ He decides to join the military as soon as he can because it's a good source of income even though he didn't really want to do it
➝ it was more shipping shit back to his mom and having an income that doesn't involve flipping burgers.
➝ He could have EASILY became a doctor or a lawyer but that took time and money he never had
➝ he was in boot camp or soemthing like that when people started noticing he had a really good eye for the little things, for the strategy, etc
➝ introduced to the pasiv, with basically everyone going 'uhm why the fuck are you a grunt, here, have some proper school work so you can get your shit together and work with the engineers'
➝ he became like.. OBSESSED with the pasiv, to the point where he'd spend hours and hours figuring out how to pull it apart/put it back together etc
➝ meets Eames during this period
➝ Sometime during these whole shennanigans he meets Cobb
➝ Arthur kind of became a dream junkie?
➝ originally been an architect or something, just because he's obsessed with the little details, the minute things etc.
➝ Meets Cobb, who senses how damn good Arthur is at it and kind of takes him under his wing.
➝ He falls easily into the 'criminal' stuff because he feels more at home with it despite all of his stubborn denial to certain people (LOOKING AT YOU EAMES).
➝ It really didn't take much for Cobb to lure Arthur out of the military because a) fuck testosterone b) paycheques are better and c) dreamsharing is less restrictive/WAY MORE INTERESTING if it's done cobb's way.
➝ Really particular with shit (even the food he eats my god he is a wine snob and a picky eater)
➝ because of his ACTUAL military background that he sort of evolved into a point man once he gained cobb's trust. The two are pretty much bros.
➝ Also he's a d&d nerd and that's why his totem has always been a loaded die that always rolls sixes because it's simpler than a d20.
➝ hot and cold relationship with Eames (re: old married couple going down in flames)
➝ so project somnarium is where arthur and eames met?
